TYPES OF APPLIANCES

Traditional Metal Braces

Traditional metal braces are common for both children and adults. These braces used to be clunky and uncomfortable, but advancements have changed the way the braces look and feel. They are more comfortable and much smaller than they were in the past.

Ceramic Braces

Ceramic braces are even more popular for adults. These function just like traditional metal braces but the brackets blend in with the teeth. This allows adults to wear braces without the world knowing. Ceramic braces are a good option for mild to moderate alignment issues, but if you have a more severe issue, you might require a different treatment.

Pitts 21 Pro Braces

Pitts 21 Pro braces contain passive self-litigating brackets. The brackets are available in clear ceramic and traditional metal. Many adults prefer Pitts 21 Pro braces because the system doesn’t put as much force on the teeth. The system gently guides the teeth into place. While it’s gentle, it is also fast-acting, reducing treatment times by up to six months. You won’t have to return to the orthodontist for as many adjustments as you would with traditional braces. Because the braces don’t have ties, it is much easier to clean your teeth.

Invisalign

Many adults don’t want to deal with braces. They don’t want to avoid eating certain foods, and they also don’t want to brush around brackets or wires. Those adults often turn to Invisalign. The clear aligners can be removed to eat and clean the teeth. Patients receive a series of custom aligners that they must keep in for at least 22 hours a day. Patients typically visit the orthodontist every 8-10 weeks to ensure the teeth are moving correctly. Invisalign treats various alignment issues. However, those with severe problems might not be candidates for Invisalign.
